Frequently Asked Questions
Does ChordFlare produce sound?
No. ChordFlare is an analysis tool. It identifies and displays chord information but does not generate audio.
Can I search for a chord by name?
Yes. Type a chord name like Cmaj7 or Dm into the search field and ChordFlare will show the notes, type, and voicing on the piano roll.
What does "Enharmonic spelling" do?
It switches between enharmonic equivalents, for example showing Db instead of C#, so you can view notes in the spelling you prefer.
Does it detect inversions?
Yes. ChordFlare identifies the bass note and shows which inversion the chord is in, such as root position, 1st, or 2nd inversion.
What are "Alternatives"?
Some sets of notes can be named in more than one way. The Alternatives panel shows other valid chord names for the same group of notes.
How many octaves does the piano roll cover?
The piano roll spans several octaves and you can scroll left or right to reach the full range.
Can I use it while producing?
Yes. Load it on any track in your DAW and use it as a reference tool while writing or arranging.
